History
In
1998, after a short search for a suitable location, we became the owners of two authentic farmhouses and
the surrounding land (4000 square meters). The old womab (81 years by then),
who owned the place, wasn't able to get through the harsh winters
any longer. She decided to live with her family in a nearby village
and to sell the houses and the land to us. In the spring of 1999
it was restored immediately to fit for its purposes: a
tranquil, authentic countryside pension and natural campsite.
In the spring of 2000 a sanitary-block for the campers was added
to the place. Some sort of an old stable was renewed and serves
now as a common space. In 2001, the complex has been extended with
an extra original village house. We can now host groups up to 15 persons.
Much
effort was put in the balance between authenticity and comfort.
All facilities have the highest hygienic standards.
Nevertheless, the spaces in and outside the houses have a cosy and
warm atmosphere.
The
guestrooms
In spite of the abundant light, the
rooms are always nicely fresh. These countryside houses are built
of 60 cm walls of natural stone. The thick walls keep the inside
temperature in summer always significantly lower then outside. Even
on the hottest days, this guarantees a good
night's sleep. The rooms are of average size, have new bathrooms, new floors and paint and have windows with
beautiful views.
The
beds and mattresses are new and comfortable,
the sheets are new and replaced twice a week.
Most rooms have private facilities and are cleaned daily.
The
camp site
The campsite, as well as the houses, is surrounded
by nature. At one side there are fields, at the other forests.
One side of the place is bordered by a small brook
with clear drinkable water, which partly comes from a volcanic
source. Along this river we created shaded places. On the bigger
field are sunny spots. The soil is smooth everywhere and easy to
penetrate.
The
sanitary is new and cleaned daily.
The
common places
The
large common room is available for
anybody (pension- and camping guests), who wants to hide from the
rain, the cold or just wants to be inside with other people. It
has very comfortable chairs and a few
tables. You can play a game of chess or darts there, use our library
or drink a glass of wine. It has a self-service
fridge with beer, wine and juice. The extensive library
has books about Hungarian and European nature, novels, maps and tourist information
about the whole of Hungary. It
is a spacious place with a high roof. The walls are decorated
with pictures and art from our guests. In wintertime this place is the atelier of your hostess.
Outside
are several terraces in the shade of
a large walnut tree, in the sun and also under a shed. These places are used to
eat, relax, play a game or just to talk. One of the terraces has
a fireplace. Sometimes we prepare a
real Hungarian gulyas on an open fire.
One
field has facilities to play badminton,
volleyball or
table tennis. Children can enjoy
themselves here. Also they can play in the little river. Building
a dam is always an exciting event. At the end of the season (august),
children like to be picking plums and peaches.
