The long-awaited film Butterfly Behaviour is published!

15 GBP + 2 GBP for postage

Butterflies are regarded by most as noble creatures attracted to flowers. Few realise they also visit carcasses and excrement. When next you observe butterflies either in the garden or on holiday, you will now see them in a new light. For this DVD will reveal the unseen life of butterflies, with all the surprising behaviour it comprises.

The film was shot in butterfly-rich Hungary and in the alpine region of Slovenia. The resulting footage has been acquired with much patience. It has taken two years to complete. This could only be realised with the filmmaker constantly living among butterflies. No other film shows such numbers of them. Think of puddling parties with over 1000 butterflies. Furthermore, this DVD contains unique footage of behaviour, which was never filmed before. Moreover, it includes the latest scientific knowledge of nectaring, mate location, courtship, mud-puddling and mating.

The DVD has been reviewed on UKbutterflies: http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/reports_dejong.php

Welcome

Farm Lator offers the golden mean for a nature holiday in an adventurous area: travelling independently and still enjoying the comfort and certainties of an organised tour (and more). So, beside group tours we offer individual arrangements which are perfectly tailored to your personal interests!

On this page you can briefly get aquainted with the Farm Lator philosophy. Check the rest of this website to have closer engagement with us, our accommodation, our activities, and the nature and culture in the surrounding.

Our philosophy

In order to respect the local community and nature as well as the desires of the modern eco tourist, Farm Lator developed, in addition to being small-scaled, the following strategy:

1 Our permanent presence in this region guarantees quality excursions. We have extensive and detailed knowledge of the region, have good contacts with local guides, nature conservators, researchers, the forestry, farmers and artisans and know all information of present interest.

2 Next to being specialist in the nature and culture of this part of Hungary, we are also your host. This combination prevents our guest from taking unnecessary preparations and from encountering uncertainties.

3 We try to create an informal atmosphere on our base. Therefore, we meet and inform our guests personally and continue to be your host and hostess during your stay. There will be plenty of occasions to address us with any type of questions in English, German, Dutch and Hungarian.

4 We try to keep the surrounding original. The pensions are restored, authentic farms and the facilities for the nature camping are unobtrusive extensions of our farmhouse. Because of these measures the original, rural atmosphere of the surrounding stays unimpaired.

5 Last, but not least, it is of importance that not only the eco tourist, but also the local nature and local population benefit from our activities (eco-tourism!). A percentage of our income (thus from your expenditure) is transferred to a foundation that executes local nature conservation projects. Naturally, the services of local guides are being used. Furthermore, we buy most of our products in small shops or directly from our neighbours. Our staff contains of neighbours as well.
