Sustainable tourism

In order to respect the local community and nature, Farm Lator developed, in addition to being small-scaled, the following strategy:

1 We are involved in Nature Conservation. Recently, we have for instance restored an old Bee-eater quarry, that got abandoned in 2003 because it got overgrown with shrubs. Now we have good hopes that the bee-eaters will return. Also a percentage of our income is transferred to a foundation that executes local nature conservation projects.

2 We try to keep the surrounding original. The pensions are restored, authentic farms and the facilities for the nature camping are unobtrusive extensions of our farmhouse. Because of these measures the original, rural atmosphere of the surrounding stays unimpaired.

3 Last, but not least, it is of importance that not only the eco tourist, but also the local nature and local population benefit from our activities (eco-tourism!). Naturally, the services of local guides are being used. Furthermore, we buy most of our products in small shops or directly from our neighbours. Our staff contains of local people as well.
