This page contains a collection of video samples from European butterflies. I have started filming in 2003 and aim to collect footage of all Hungarian buttterfly species. Up till now I have been limited to Hungary because of my work. Together with my Hungarian wife, I run a field centre (www.farmlator.hu, click on one of the links left above) for naturalists in a very rich environment. Only in the gardens of our guest house and campsite me and my guests have observed more than 60 butterfly species. When I have the oppertunity I visit more remote locations for species not present in our gardens or in the near surrounding. In the near future I am planning trips to other European destinations. In April 2007 I have visited southern Spain with friend photographers. In September 2007 I was in the Southern peninsula in Greece. The 'foreign' footage has now been processed.

In order to limit the size of the downloads and to ensure the quality of the images, the samples are relatively short (25-60 seconds, 2-4 Mb). However, the original footage is safely stored on hard disks and available for commercial and non-commercial use. Please contact me on my e-mail address (farmlator@hotmail.com).

All clips are in WMV (Windows Media) format. You don't need special software to view them.

My films are also published on the most extensive photo-galeries from European lepidoptera: www.lepseurope.eu and on www.ukbutterflies.co.uk. There they are larded with pretty pictures of (generally) all stadia (imago, ovum, larva, pupa).
